Daisy Crazy Prints

This week I’m in love with a dainty daisy print as a key summer look. I’ve never been that bothered by daisy print before, but right now it’s kind of unavoidable, and I’ve fallen for the daisy big time. In reality I’m not fussed by the flower at all, but if I can get a perspex daisy necklace that makes the flower look perfect then why the hell not?

Topshop jewellery is paying major homage to the daisy right now, but showing us the daisy in a whole new way, teaming Perspex daisies with studs, gold chains and sharp shapes. I love the Topshop take on the daisy, and this collection is proving perfect for statement summer jewels. The headband would be (dare I say it) a great festival item for when your hair is looking infested on the third day and you need a helping hand to boost your look.

I’ve gone a bit daisy crazy (had to be done) in my wish list items, and there is something about a cheeky daisy print that has me lusting after all of these items! My favourites have to be the ASOS cut-out dress, because it’s a more subtle nod to the daisy, and I’m a sucker for a good cut-out – plus the vibrant colour is a must for the summer, and I’ll be matching it to my Topshop orange nail paint in ‘Stage Dive’. I’m also obsessed with the Topshop daisy print that comes in a cami top (a must-have for the summer) and a less flimsy blouse number. I love the big graphic daisies and the use of black to make the orange POP.

Hey Shorty

Three years ago I was all about the shorts, and I worked that look to death – high waisted shorts with a blouse was my uniform. And then suddenly I got scared of the short shorts. I started to fear them and then I rejected them. I know. It was a difficult time in my relationship with shorts, but now, suddenly, we’re working through it! Yay! That was just a little foray into my history with the shorts (tantalising I’m sure), and now it’s time to look forward, because I’m all over the shorts this season. High waisted, of course, because that’s the most flattering shape for me.

I favour a patterned short that’s slightly loose – sort of a bloomer style – because I find this less over the top than a hotpant style. I am in love with the Uniqlo X Celia Birtwell bloomers that I bought a few months ago, and they came in some delightful floral prints which are perfect for summer! I’m in love with a looser short, although they do have a tendency to fly up in the wind – that might float your boat, I don’t know, whatever you fancy, just know that it happens.

Just a little short-spiration for you this season so you can go shake your booty in some sassy shorts!

Style Scout Loves…Topshop Necklaces

I know that I’ve been harping on about statement necklaces being cheeky, sassy, naughty, and every other outdated term in the book, but STILL, I just cannot get enough of the big, bold, beautiful and quite frankly buxom (is that possible for a necklace?) statement necklaces.

This week I made a cheeky trip to Topshop, where I fell in love with just about every massive necklace they had. Deck out your neck in the best way possible, and start working those neck muscles (is that a thing…?) by working one of these heavy duty statement jewels. These necklaces take bling to the extreme, and one of these babies will lift your look instantly.

I’ve included a not-so-small selection of my favourites from their latest looks, and you’ll notice a few key trends – bold colours, bold sparkles, and the odd cheeky flower thrown in there! But if flowers aren’t your thing then go for a dramatic graphic shape in the form of one of their perspex collar with neon touches. LOVE IT.

Outfit Post

Today I am dressed like a giant baby with a penchant for sheer blouses and paisley. Kidding. Sort of.

I’m working my new paisley playsuit/dungarees situation from Topshop which I LOVE: the orange is a great accent for the playsuit, and I’m obsessed with this little number as a summer update for my wardrobe. I’m wearing the playsuit with my favourite blouse, a cheeky sheer number from Vaudeville and Burlesque, available at Urban Outfitters. The lace collar is DIVINE, and I’m teaming it with a brand new butterfly necklace from Topshop, which is also where I got all my rings.

In my shopping basket

So, this week I’ve been super cheeky and have made two new necklace purchases. Why I need two new statement necklaces is anyone’s guess, but I did it, it happened, and now we’re moving on.

Anyway, as you all know I’m all about the statement jewels. Very obviously. So I fell completely in love with this slightly bizarre but completely amazing Zara buffalo necklace. It’s a skull with turquoise accents and generally there is just a lot going on there. It’s my new good luck charm/best friend. I think it’s probably got some kind of curse on it, but we’re going with it and I’m channeling my inner cowboy.

I also bought a delightful butterfly necklace from Topshop. And the wings move: when I poke them. BUT STILL. It’s got Perspex wings and a gold body and it’s really intricate and beautiful so I love it a lot. It’s a great summer necklace, and I’m definitely going back for the matching brooch. Never too much, never.

So, as you can see, I’m all about the necklace this month. I have to say that I’m really loving Topshop jewellery right now. They have a great selection of different collections that really capture key jewellery trends for the season, and they’re doing statement gold and Perspex necklaces brilliantly. Yay!

Top Five: Fluoro Necklaces

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about fluoro as a key trend for summer. Well, if you’re looking for a way to ease yourself into the trend, then try adding a dash of neon to your accessories. I’m all about the fluoro accent on a necklace right now, and so is the rest of the high street apparently. I love a statement necklace, as we all well know, and a nice way that you can work a flashy necklace either day or night is by working the fluoro trend. The splash of bright will add summer fun to every outfit, and I’m just loving the look.

Style Scout Loves…Green

This might sound like a slightly bizarre post, because it’s all focused essentially on the colour green. Not glam. BUT I’ve basically orchestrated an entire post to fit the items that I’m lusting after right now, and at the moment, luckily for me, a lot of the stuff that I’m pining for is green. HUZZAH A THEME! That’s what we like.

I’m not a girl who wears a lot of green, but this summer it’s kind of all around me and so I’m definitely feeling the green. Not that I’m about the start dancing round the garden chatting to roses, but I can throw on a green sundress like the next person.

My current obsession is obviously anything with a bold print, and so Zara’s ‘cold shoulder’ dress with cut out sleeves is exactly what I need (image 3). I love the divinely intricate print and the amazing green colour! They also have a super simple floral t shirt dress which you could throw on with just about anything! Topshop is really loving a tropical print, and they’ve got an amazing green banana print on a lot of their stuff right now, which is great if you want to hit up the tropical trend. YUM.

OR, if prints aren’t your kettle of fish (and if they aren’t then let’s be honest you’re probably on the wrong blog – not really just kidding please don’t leave me…) then go for a nice simple block colour in green.
